Fireworks
The gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the Boston Pops concert begins at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks are set to begin at 10:30. Parking at meters is free but there are many street closings from 6:00 p.m. until the end of the celebration. They include:
Arlington Street, from Back Street to Beacon Street
Beacon Street, from Charles Street to Massachusetts Avenue
Berkeley Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
Clarendon Street, from Back Street to Beacon Street
Dartmouth Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
Exeter Street, from Back Street to Beacon Street
Fairfield Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
Gloucester Street, from Back Street to Beacon Street
Hereford Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
Massachusetts Avenue, from Beacon Street to the City of Cambridge
On Saturday, subway service will operate at “rush hour levels” starting at 2 p.m. and fares will be free after 9:30.
Safety
We want you to have fun but also be safe! Here are 6 Tips for Staying Safe this Season:
- Obey all local laws in regards to fireworks.
- If you do your own fireworks, make sure you follow all directions.
- Never try to use homemade fireworks.
- Whoever lights the fireworks should follow safety precautions and be sober.
- Keep your pets in a safe place during any fireworks celebration.
- Think about the heat! Make sure you wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
